ENAGÁS

Company’s description
Enagás is the Technical Manager of the Spanish Gas System and the main natural gas transmission company in Spain. It is also certified as an independent TSO by the European Union.
In Spain, Enagás has nearly 11,000 km of gas pipelines, three underground storage facilities (Serrablo, Gaviota and Yela), and four regasification plants: Barcelona, Huelva, Cartagena and Gijón. It also owns 40% of the Bilbao regasification plant.
Enagás, a technological benchmark in the gas sector, pays special attention to innovation and development. To this end, it has technical resources and human resources specifically dedicated to this task. These have extensive experience in the different technological specialities involved in the company’s activities.
Enagás is clearly and forcefully committed to the energy transition, working on three main lines of action: the development of renewable gases and their integration into existing gas infrastructures; the promotion of new uses for gas in sectors such as transport, especially maritime; and energy efficiency as a means of optimising resources and reducing polluting emissions. In this regard, as part of its commitment to decarbonisation, in 2019 Enagás created a new subsidiary, EnaGasRenovable, to promote renewable gas projects such as hydrogen, biogas and biomethane.
