History
The
Spanish Hydrogen Association (AeH2)was thought and developed in the core of the
Hydrogen Executive Committee of the International Energy Agency, planned as a
group of national associations. The first promoter was Mr. Abraham Bahbout, the
previous manager for that Committee in the European Union, with high skills in
Spanish conversation and an enthusiast of travelling around our country.
So the Spanish member of the mentioned committee, Mr. Antonio González
García-Conde, was involved in the first planning, along with the "Alternate
Member" Mr. Rafael Luque Berruezo. Countries such as Germany or France have
their own association already, and altogether with associations from other
countries they form the already constituted European Association.
In order to accelerate and improve the establishment of our Association, several
managers of this European Association got in touch with people around Spain,
such as Mr. Jose María Martínez-Val de Peñalosa (UPM-ETSII), Mrs. María Teresa
Martínez (CSIC-ICB) or Mr. Antonio González García-Conde (INTA). Together and
supported by the IDAE, they were the ones who had all this process started.
A meeting with several representatives from many companies was held at the IDAE
headquarters on March 14th, 2002. Those companies represented were MINECO, MCYT,
IDAE, CIEMAT, CSIC-ICB, CSIC-ICP, INTA, ABENGOA, AIR LIQUIDE, ARIEMA, BP, EHN,
ELCOGAS, EMPRESARIOS AGRUPADOS, ENDESA, UPM-ETSII, GAS NATURAL, IBERDROLA,
IRISBUS and REPSOL.
At this meeting, the unanimous decision of constituting the Spanish Hydrogen
Association was taken, so the Board of Directors was chosen and the Technical
Secretariat was given to ARIEMA. With the contribution of these people, the next
step was ready to be taken. The Bylaws had to be debated to have them improved
and furthermore start to elaborate the Associaton’s Action Courses.
Unfortunately, many companies with great interest in this subject were absent
from this meeting. With the aim of being an open association, it is proposed and
later accepted to open the possibility for those companies to be founding
members. To achieve this, another meeting is set on May 9th. So finally, on that
day the Spanish Hydrogen Association is constituted in the meeting, held this
time at the "Fundación Gómez Pardo" in Madrid.
And now… the road is open.
